Update from Jeff Mehrhoff

The DC7 financial report shows that we are stable financially even though hours have been up and down the last couple of months. We are improving our reserve level and it should be close to the 12-month goal sometime next year.

As I mentioned last month, there will be opportunities next year with the District Council and I will be announcing those details at the January delegate meeting. Something else that I did not mention was that I intend on having members attend events with DC7 leadership when possible. For example, next week we have the Finishing Industries Forum—the labor/management conference that is put on by our International. I am taking three members with us to the conference. It is important that members see what happens on a bigger level and it should not just be DC7 leadership that attends everything. So, if you are interested in participating, please let me know. If you want to be more involved, I suggest taking the COMET class it really will be the key to many opportunities in the future.

Last week I received notice from the IUPAT that all the local union bylaws that I submitted in October were approved. Thanks again to everyone for pitching in and helping to get the bylaws done. They were a lot of work but necessary. For those locals that made changes to their officer pay, you can expect those changes to be in place this month.

Breakfast with Santa was back this year! We had over 200 members registered to attend this year's event. Thanks so much to DC7 staff, especially Jenni, for taking over the event—it really is a good thing that we are doing for our members and the community. If you would like to donate a toy, there is still time. We will be taking donations for the next couple of weeks and plan on donating the toys collected to a children's charity.

This month we will be working on finishing up the plans for the next year, which we will outline at our January meeting. Until then, I hope to see you at your local meetings.

I want to wish all of you and all our members a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Stay safe,

Jeff Mehrhoff
