Congratulations to Jaclyn Weitzel on being named Executive Director of the Building Trades Council of South-Central Wisconsin!
Jaclyn has a degree in graphic design, is a certified EMT and (volunteer) firefighter and worked as a union painter. Jaclyn's professional journey has been extremely well-rounded with experience from each position contributing to her success as Executive Director. Her graphic design experience has given her a step up in communication and outreach. Working as a firefighter has helped her to work well under pressure—she literally has experience putting out fires. She also has experience as a union painter, giving her important industry knowledge.
Her goals in her new position are to introduce the next generation to the trades and create more pathways to get them there. There are so many opportunities that kids aren't even aware of—and she wants to change that. She also wants to promote equity in the trades, opening the door for more diverse community relationships and more opportunities for all.
Jaclyn is hugely passionate about the labor movement because it means she can work for people to give people better opportunities.
Congratulations Jaclyn! We can't wait to see what you accomplish in your new role.
